Q: Does HoverDock include a Lightning cable in the package?
A: No, HoverDock is designed specifically to use original Apple Lightning to USB-A cable (not included). Other cables will not fit properly and will cause irreversible damage. Apple Lightning cables come with all iPhone/iPad sold. If you need to purchase an extra Lightning cable for HoverDock, we recommend Apple ($19.95) or OWC ($9.98).
Q: Can I remove the the Lightning cable by hand from the socket easily?
A: HoverDock is designed to fit original Apple Lightning cable tightly. It is not designed for frequent removal of the cable once fitted.
Q: But if I need to, how do I remove the Lightning cable without damage?
A: Wrap the lightning tip with a thin cloth to protect the tip and use a plier (slip-join type preferred) to gently clamp and pull the metal lightning tip out of the socket.
Q: How do I know if my protective case is compatible with HoverDock?
A: An elevator clip is provided to raise the Lightning connector so it can be compatible with iPhone in a case. As long as the thickness of the protective case is 4mm or less, it is compatible with HoverDock.
Q: Is HoverDock strong enough without a backrest?
A: Apple original Lighting connectors are quite resilient and made to last, as can be seen by Apple’s own charging dock, that shares the same sleek and simple design as HoverDock of letting the Lightning tip supporting the weight of the iPhone. The proper way to remove an iPhone from the HoverDock is to lift the iPhone up in the slanted direction of the Lightning tip, and never to bent forward. Once the Lightning tip is forcibly bent, it is the end of the cable.
